About Me.

My main instrument is the piano which has resulted in a clear harmonic understanding to my compositional work is often the instrument I'll compose on. I am also confident in my use of Logic X pro to compose and produce. I mostly work with industry standard, instrumental samples which help me replicate orchestral instruments to their most authentic quality. My experience with Logic covers both MIDI and audio composing making my compositional process flexible and easy to work with if revisions and changes are required. I am also confident in transcription for most instruments and can score an orchestral track fairly quickly.

The most crucial aspect to film scoring is understanding the film maker's intent. I am not composing for myself. Once I have a clear understanding of what is required of me to bring to a project, I will often write a temp track composition to outline the atmosphere of a scene or film. All music is composed and produced in Logic however I will often notate a score on the side. Due to my compositional process and the media I use, revisions can be made at any point in the development of the music. This makes the scoring stage as easy and flexible as possible for a film maker.

Education

2022 - 2025

Degree
BA (HONS) MUSIC (FILM MUSIC)

Leeds Conservatoire

2018 - present

Piano Tutoring
Myles Tyrell Music [MTM]

My time at Leeds Conservatoire has given me a more in depth understanding of the functionality of music in film. The production techniques taught for the use of Logic X Pro and plug-ins, has also improved the quality of my work to match the industry's standard and the access to professional studio spaces and equipment allow for live recording for some of my compositions.

My progress to Grade 7 in piano, has led me to become a classically trained composer whilst still exploring the modern landscape of today's Film Music. I can apply a classically inspired theoretical approach to my work where necessary and can attempt to draw from composers of the time through my arranging and orchestrating.
